12,000 BTU Mid-Size Room Air Conditioner Review

Bought it for a room of approximately 700 square feet. Installation was straightforward and took about 1 hour. Unit is heavy so I would definitely recommend having a second person to help. It has all the basic features I was looking for (energy efficiency, remote control, 3 fan speeds, energy saving mode, etc.)
Most importantly, it cools the room quickly. Fan is somewhat noisy but tolerable. Not familiar with other brands for comparison.

Honeywell HW-628 Enviracaire Twin Window Fan Review

I got three different brands to test.One was this model, another was a Holmes (with digital display), and another was a brand called Hawaiian Breeze.The Honeywell was bar far the better quality unit, even though it was between the price ranges of the other two.The fan motors did not have an annoying hum like the Holmes model.And instead of the extension that clumsily slips on the left of the other two units I tested, the Honeywell model had built-in extensions in both sides.Also, the unit seemed more powerful than the other two, especially in the high-setting.On the lowest setting, it was very quiet, but not moreso than the other models.The construction quality was also better, with heavier-duty plastic.This model also included a metal bracket to mount the unit sideways should you have sliding rather than double-hung windows...a nice touch.I wish the extensions were a few inches longer and the whole unit a few inches shorter to accomodate a wider-range of windows.Although it indicates a maximum width of 38 inches, it fit in my 40-inch window fine without any gaps.

Frigidaire FAM156R1A 15,100-BTU Window Air Conditioner with Electronic Controls Review

I have been using this unit in the hottest summer on record in Phoenix and it has performed great. Installation was typical of a window unit and was not a problem at all. The manual states that if the unit go on and off quickly to move the temperature sensoraway from the cooling coils. I tried this and it didn't stay in place so I put a piece of foam weatherstripping behind it to hold it out from the coils and the unit has worked great since. The remote sensor feature really makes this unit work well and cools the place down. Noise isn't bad for this size unit.

Frigidaire FAX052P7A Window Unit Air Conditioner Review

Had new windows installed, worked and looked great, but the openings were smaller than expected.Wanted a window air conditioner for the living room.Found one at Amazon that would fit, and the reviews were good.I wasn't prepared for how well it worked, however.This little guy pumps out an amazing amount of cold air.I think the secret is, it is an older unit that was made before the energy conserving engineers got a hold of it.Maybe I should feel bad that I am not helping the environment as much as I could, but keeping me cool during a hot and humid August, somehow made the guilt go away.
